Dental Implants and Surgery Coordinator

Dental Arts of Chicago P.C. in Skokie, IL seeks Dental Implants and Surgery Coordinator. This person will be responsible for

  • Taking part in creation of treatment plans, present treatment plans to patients;
  • Present base instructions to patients regarding preventive dental care, the causes and treatment of dental and oral health problems;
  • Produce or evaluate dental health educational materials;
  • Schedule appointments for dental and oral surgery patients and maintain master treatment schedule;
  • Provide and explain to patients preoperative and postoperative instructions;
  • Answer treatment related phone calls and questions;
  • Perform diagnostic measures such as dental x-rays, cone-beam tomography scans, intraoral scans;
  • Measure and take impressions of patients’ jaws and teeth to determine shape and size of dental prostheses using face bows, articulators, recording devices, intraoral and extraoral photo cameras, and other devices;
  • Bleach discolored teeth to brighten and whiten them using in office bleaching systems;
  • Create custom bleach trays including taking impressions, creating models and custom trays, instructing patients on using bleaching trays and materials;
  • Assist dentists when they perform dental procedures, including surgeries;
  • Collaborate with general dentists, dental specialists including endodontists, periodontists, prosthodontists, and other healthcare professionals to develop solutions to dental and oral health concerns;
  • Manage workflow related to dental work and oral surgery procedures;
  • Maintain records on surgery procedures performed, and materials used, record specific dental implants’ information;
  • Prepare various dental and oral surgery instruments and equipment, sanitize and sterilize instruments and equipment;
  • Maintain instruments and equipment in order and working condition;
  • Troubleshoot minor problems related to dental tools and equipment, call authorized repair technicians;
  • Write fabrication instructions to dental technicians on design and fabrication of implant custom abutments and superstructures, including fixed prostheses and overdentures;
  • Coordinate dental laboratory schedules with master treatment schedule;
  • Maintain stock of appliances, parts, and materials used in oral surgery and implant procedures, and prosthetic procedures;
  • Liaise with dental implants’ suppliers to maintain stock of dental implants;
  • Initiate and fill documentation for returns and replacements of failed or desterilized dental implants;
  • Liaise with billing staff on handling paperwork, diagnostic records, or insurance billing claims.

Must possess a Bachelor’s Degree (or foreign equivalent) in Dentistry, Dental Surgery, or related and 3 years of experience in the job offered or related. Must also possess experience with assisting in oral surgeries and dental implant surgeries; dentist-lab workflow; and antiseptic/aseptic protocols.
